Artificial intelligence is already beginning to shape how donors seek information, how charities communicate, and how the charitable sector prepares for change.
In 2025, BBB Wise Giving Alliance partnered with the Institute for the Future, GoFundMe, and The Salvation Army to convene charity leaders in New York City for The IFTF Ten-Year Forecast 2025–2035: Charting Your Future for Social Good.
This page brings together insights and selected recordings from the event.

IFTF Ten-Year Forecast 2025-2035: Charting Your Future for Social Good
The convening brought together more than 200 nonprofit leaders representing 135 organizations to explore how forecasting tools and predictive insights can support mission-driven work amid the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence and other societal shifts.
The program used IFTF’s ten-year forecast to help participants think through both the opportunities and the risks ahead. Discussions throughout the event examined how AI could reshape communication, translation, service delivery, resource management, and donor engagement across the charitable sector.
What Leaders Explored
At the event, nonprofit leaders explored how emerging technologies, including AI, may influence trust, engagement, leadership, and service delivery in the years ahead.
-
AI was presented as a technology filled with promise, but also one that can intensify misinformation, deepfakes, manipulation, and other harms if organizations do not approach it thoughtfully.
-
A central theme was that the future is not something that simply happens to charities and donors; it is also shaped by the choices people and institutions make now.
-
Speakers emphasized that faster or cheaper tools are not enough on their own. To be successful, charities will need to embed AI in mission-aligned values, human oversight, discernment, and transparency.
