Shepherd's House meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
"Shepherd's House's mission is to restructure the lives of those with drug and alcohol addictions to ensure that they lead sober, productive, independent lives; that they successfully complete rehabilitation and develop a solid foundation to build their future upon."
Year, State Incorporated:
1998, IN
Also Known As:
Shepherd's House, Inc. (The), The Shepherd's House, Inc.
Shepherd's House is a long term, residential/transitional housing center for alcohol and chemically addicted men, 18 years or older. Participants make a six month personal commitment to the recovery program (minimum six months, maximum two years). They attend daily recovery sessions and have access to spiritual counselors and caring staff who assist them with the creation of an effective support system. The structured approach is designed to help the participant with developing a solid foundation of sobriety. Clients are highly encouraged to begin higher education classes and/or part-time or full-time employment. If clients are unable to acquire employment they are encouraged to begin volunteering at other not for profit agencies to "give back" to the community. They are held accountable to the rehabilitation community for behavior as well as for the completion of daily work assignments. Dignity and a healthy self image are viewed as basic to recovery. Shepherds House's facility is comprised of highly motivated experienced staff, many whom are themselves in recovery. Shepherd's House believes that the bondage of addiction, whether chemical dependence, gambling or other dependence, can and will be broken by the power of Jesus Christ.
