Good Neighbors USA does not meet the following 1 Standards for Charity Accountability:
Standard 1 (Oversight of Operations and Staff)
Organizations shall have a board of directors that provides adequate oversight of the charity's operations and its staff. Indication of adequate oversight includes, but is not limited to, regularly scheduled appraisals of the CEO's performance, evidence of disbursement controls such as board approval of the budget, fund raising practices, establishment of a conflict of interest policy, and establishment of accounting procedures sufficient to safeguard charity finances.
GNUSA does not meet this Standard because its board of directors does not:
- Review the performance of the Chief Executive Officer at least once every two years.

Child Sponsorship
GNUSA offers a child sponsorship program in which donors sponsor a child for $35 per month, providing access to education, health care, and basic necessities. The sponsorship also includes regular updates and communication between the sponsor and the child. The organization reports that the sponsorship provides nutritious meals, school supplies, school tuition, vaccinations, and medical check ups. It is also used to improve facilities and programs, such as schools, hospitals, sanitation facilities, and water wells in the Community Development Projects (CDP) where the sponsored child resides.

Good Neighbors USA (GNUSA) reports that it implements projects that promote and protect children's rights, strengthen global partnership, and advocate the rights of the most vulnerable in a respectful and effective way. The organization primarily focuses on 1:1 child sponsorship and project sponsorship with partner countries to bring about changes in the lives of children and their communities. GNUSA conducts projects in six focus areas to make these changes come to life: education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, income generation, advocacy, and emergency relief.
