How Does Crime Stoppers Work?
Citizens with information on a crime or wanted fugitive call the Crime Stopper tip line at 719-634-STOP (7867) or Submit A Tip Online
Callers are asked questions related to the reported crime but they are not asked for their name or other identifying information.
Callers are given a code number to uniquely identify the tip information they provided.
If the citizen's tip information helps law enforcement to an arrest, the caller may be eligible for a cash reward.
Crime Stoppers posts reward-eligible code numbers in the weekly Crime Stoppers Featured Fugitives of the Week article that appears every Monday in the Local section of The Gazette and on the WANTED page of the Crime Stoppers web site at www.crimestop.net.
Crime Stoppers conducts an award approval process, and in partnership with a local bank, distributes the approved awards via an anonymous payment process that verifies the tipster without using personal identifying information.
