Louisville Metro Police Foundation meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
To help ensure that Louisville is one of America’s safest cities by using private donations to provide the Louisville Metro Police Department and its officers with essential training, equipment, and programs not covered by tax dollars. The Foundation supports a safer Louisville one officer at a time.

The Police Foundation focuses its spending in four categories: crime fighting, excellence in policing, health, and well-being of LMPD Officers, and community partnerships. Programs include but are not limited to: The Summit Wellness Center, Bring Peace Home to End Violence, and the Shop with a Cop Program. The Foundation purchases equipment ranging from dogs for the K-9 Unit to new horses for the Mounted Patrol. The Officer-in-Distress program supports officers and their families suffering from life threatening illnesses or other catastrophic events.
