Stated Purpose:

MISSION STATEMENT:

We serve the evolving needs of our community by providing nutritious food and connections to essential resources.

VISION STATEMENT:

We are a leader in food access and resources to improve the health and well-being of our community.

Year, State Incorporated:
1973, OH

PROGRAMS & SERVICES:

Food Distribution:
Our basic goal is to provide food weekly to qualifying individuals and families in Franklin County. We are supported in this effort by 30 area churches and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Over 150 volunteers aid in assessing and providing for the needs of our clients. Clients may visit the pantry weekly to receive and five-day supply of food. Many of our clients are homeless.  We also provide hygiene items as well. We have a delivery service to those without transportation.

Ohio Benefit Bank/Food Stamp Access:
A staff member from Mid-Ohio Food Bank is available twice weekly to assist clients in determining eligibility for food stamps. Eligible clients with a picture ID can apply at the pantry. In addition, representatives from many resources visit the pantry offering services such as Columbus Public Health, employment services, insurance options, etc.

Back to School:
Each Summer, sponsoring churches donate school supplies for distribution to our clients. Volunteers assemble kits for each grade level based on recommendations of Columbus City Schools administrators. The kits are distributed in August and September. Any leftover items are donated to a local elementary school.

Grooming Kits/Holiday Gifts:
Each Christmas season we distribute approximately 1,500 grooming kits containing soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, comb, razor, shampoo, lotion, and a wash cloth. These items are donated and collected by our supporting churches and delivered to our pantry. On the first Sunday in December, volunteers assemble the kits so that they are ready for distribution the next day.

Donations to NNEMAP also help provide Christmas gifts to families who have nothing for their children. Holiday gift boxes are provided to almost 300 families through the efforts of a few of our churches.

NNEMAP provides access to the Breathing Association’s medical van, and schedules clients for free physicals and x-rays. Once each month representatives from United Healthcare, AETNA and others provide information about Medicaid services.
