The Houston SPCA provides the following programs and services: adoptions (placed over 6,500 animals in 2017), sheltering of all animals, cruelty investigations (investigated over 6,000 cases of abuse and cruelty in 2017), 24-Hour animal rescue ambulance (over 3,300 animals were rescued from immediate danger and distress in 2017), disaster relief and rescue, foster care, spay/neuter of all animals prior to placement, humane education, PetSafe, aniMeals on Wheels in partnership with Interfaith Ministries and the Shelter Medicine and Animal Welfare partnership with Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In 2018 our services and programs helped 40,000 animals, including providing 6,000 surgeries and lifesaving procedures and rescuing 3,000 injured animals with our 24-hour animal ambulance. In addition, we treated 10,000 native wildlife from 350 species.
