Harrison County Community Services provides for the basic needs of the people of Harrison County. Programs that address and assist with this include a Food Pantry and related programs, Direct Assistance, and a Clothes Closet. The Food Pantry provides food to the people of Harrison County through four different programs. The first is the Food Pantry, which operates at the main office. People can receive regular food once every 30 days, and on the weeks in between, they can receive produce only. The second food related program is the Mobile Food Pantry, which takes food out to two remote locations within the county on the second Saturday of each month. The third food program is the Home Delivery Program, which takes food to three apartment complexes within the county. These apartments are for low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals. This means that individuals who cannot get to the office because of mobility and transportation issues can receive food. The fourth program is the Community Meal. In partnership with Dare to Care and Corydon Presbyterian Church, a hot meal is provided each Monday evening for the residents of Harrison County. The Direct Assistance Program helps people who are in crisis with things such as rent, utilities, prescriptions, GED testing, and dental assistance. It works to ensure that people can maintain their housing and improve their lives. The Clothes Closet is where individuals of all ages can get clothing. This is available once a month and the amount of clothing received is dependent upon the amount of donated clothing available.
