Programs Goodwill Industries of East Texas, Inc. offers services in Anderson, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rusk, Shelby, Smith, Upshur, VanZandt and Wood counties. Its goal is to put people to work. Its target population is persons with physical disabilities or other types of barriers to employment. The services offered include Vocational Evaluation testing, Work Adjustment Training, Personal Social Adjustment Training, Job Coaching, Job Placement, Supported Employment, Supported Self Employment, and Counseling. In addition, it offers extended employment at the Commercial Services Division (formerly named OIT) which gives individuals not ready for immediate placement a chance to develop their skills and level of self-confidence before assuming a permanent job in the competitive marketplace. By being an employer as well as a training/rehabilitation/job placement service it provides the community, financial support through the wages paid and a skilled workforce to meet the needs of existing job vacancies.
