Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
The Foundation's mission is to provide Houston's bravest men and women with the necessary funding, tools, technology and equipment to best serve and protect citizens of Houston. FFFH also provides financial assistance to families of fallen fire fighters. FFFH was formed to support the operations and membership of the fire departments, to enhance their effectiveness and to educate and enhance public understanding.
Year, State Incorporated:
2006, TX
The organization is the first foundation in Houston to provide non-governmental funding to Houston’s firefighters. The Foundation is dedicated to upholding their pledge of providing Houston’s bravest men and women with the necessary funding, tools, technology, and equipment so that they may be able to best serve and protect the citizens of Houston. FFFH will also provide financial assistance as needed to families of fallen firefighters who have perished in the line of duty.
With ever-increasing demands from virtually every sector of the community, Houston’s municipal budget has seldom adequately funded more than the fire department’s bare necessities. City Hall’s priorities have been and remain keeping fire house doors open, maintaining and training a sufficient number of firefighters for Houston’s ever-increasing population, and providing the necessary support structure to enable firefighters to respond in a timely and efficient manner. Unfortunately, recent advances in technology and new equipment demands have too frequently fallen further down the priority list. As a result, these demands rarely receive the funding and attention they deserve. The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston is committed to filling the gap between the needs of Houston Fire Department and the limits of government spending. FFFH's extremely low overhead enables them to immediately turn nearly ever dollar collected toward the mounting needs of the Houston Fire Department.
