Air Alliance Houston meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
Reduce the public health impacts from air pollution through research, education, and advocacy.

Year, State Incorporated:
1992, TX

Guided by a five-year strategic plan, Air Alliance Houston (AAH) conducts community-based research, education, and advocacy campaigns that address all major sources of air pollution, including stationary emissions (from the petrochemical industry along the Houston Ship Channel and numerous “backyard” polluters) and mobile emissions (from cars, trucks, trains, etc. moving goods and people across our region). They also run the area’s largest community air monitoring program, respond to chemical releases and other disasters, and teach and train community members to be vocal and engaged advocates for their health.  Recently, they explicitly added a new area of focus: advancing solutions to the climate crises, because what pollutes the air also warms the planet.

Our current programs and campaigns include:

Clean Air for Port Communities
Industrial Pollution Reduction along the Gulf Coast
Preventing Concrete Batch Plants in Neighborhoods
Opposition to Highway Expansions
Clean and Just Transportation Planning
Rapid Response to Chemical Leaks and Disasters
Community Air Monitoring
Community Permit Notification
Ending Coal in Southeast Texas
Equitable Decarbonization and Energy Democracy
Opposition to Chemical Plastic Recycling
Advancing Environmental and Reproductive Justice
Advancing Language Access
Contributing to the Science Base
Changing the Narrative on Air Pollution
Advancing Local, State, and National Policies to Protect People from Pollution
Healthcare Sector Collaboration
