SIRE, Therapeutic Horsemanship, has provided therapeutic services to children and adults with a wide variety of disabilities since 1983.
Counties served include Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, Waller, and Washington. Most of our clients participate in
therapeutic horseback riding, including our competition program and SIRE's Horses for Armed Forces. SIRE provided over 6800 service hours to 307 unduplicated clients through a combination of our weekly Therapeutic Riding (TR) program (168 clients, 4770 hours), the Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) program (67 students, 252 hours), the veterans program (72 clients, 660 hours), and the competition program. From our annual survey, 100% report they benefited physically, emotionally/psychologically, or socially from Therapeutic Riding, and 87% of clients report that SIRE has been the best activity of all the various therapies and activities they have tried.
