Health Volunteers Overseas meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) has volunteers who provide clinical and didactic education through continuing education and degree granting programs, faculty and staff training, mentoring, education material development, and professional collaboration. Volunteers may provide training through overseas assignments and/or e-volunteering. On each overseas assignment, volunteers work with an average of 20 local health care providers and/or students. In 2019, HVO reports that the organization's volunteers completed 425 assignments, across 102 projects in 22 countries, providing over 68,000 hours (6,769 volunteer days) of teaching and training. Volunteers also completed 89 e-volunteering assignments totaling 3600 hours of remote training. HVO's teaching activities resulted in 3,282 health professionals receiving training and professional development opportunities, enabling local providers to better care for their patients and communities.
