NAMI Virginia provides advocacy, resources, support groups, and education programs for Virginians with mental illness. Two signature NAMI programs include: Family-to-Family, a free eight-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions; and Peer-to-Peer, a free eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Other programs include educational programs for parents and caregivers of youth experiencing mental health symptoms, educational programs for families and caregivers of military service members and veterans, and webinar and video series. The organization also fights to eradicate the stigma of mental illness, fosters public mental health awareness, and advocates for mental health funding and a quality, comprehensive, system of care that provides a diverse range of mental health services, housing, and individualized treatments that promote recovery. As reported by the organization, NAMI Virginia serves one in five Virginians affected by mental illness.
