- The organization has not completed an effectiveness assessment in the last two years.
Standard 16 (Annual Report)
Have an annual report available to all, on request, that includes: (a) the organization's mission statement, (b) a summary of the past year's program service accomplishments, (c) a roster of the officers and members of the board of directors, (d) financial information that includes (i) total income in the past fiscal year, (ii) expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and (iii) ending net assets.
NAF does not meet this Standard because the 2020 annual report did not include:
- A breakdown of program expenses by major program category (research, education and service, and Drug Development Collaborative).
National Ataxia Foundation meets the remaining 18 Standards for Charity Accountability.
National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) reports that it works to find the cause and cure for all types of Ataxia. The organization supports research and provides programs and services to those affected by both dominantly and recessively inherited Ataxia as well as Sporadic Ataxia and other closely related conditions. In 2020, NAF reports that it welcomed 1,904 new NAF members, hosted 370 support group meetings, and funded 27 research initiatives.
