Gift of Life Marrow Registry meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Gift of Life Marrow Registry (GLMR) operates a public registry of volunteer unrelated bone marrow and blood stem cell donors available to facilitate transplants for patients battling blood cancer. The organization serves as a liaison between the donor, collection center, and transplant center, and provides case management services including all logistics involved in donor confirmatory testing, workup, harvest, and follow-up. GLMR engages in public relations and marketing activities to promote public awareness of marrow donation and attendance at donor drives. GLMR maintains a computerized public registry of its bone marrow and blood stem cell donors that is searched daily by transplant centers and international registries to find matches for patients under their care. In 2018, the organization reports that 39,981 donors were tissue typed at 670 community registration drives; 163 transplants were facilitated for patients with life-threatening illnesses; and 11,373 real-time donor searches were conducted on behalf of patients through the registry management system.
