Grand Canyon Trust (GCT) works to protect the lands and waters of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado Plateau. The organization collaborates with scientists and federal agencies, listens to and takes direction from Native communities, mobilizes advocates and volunteers, and aims to achieve lasting results. Key program areas of GCT's work include: protecting the Grand Canyon from uranium mining, destructive dams, and unsustainable development projects; supporting Native entrepreneurs and small businesses, standing behind tribes as they reclaim the authority to manage their ancestral lands, and supporting Native communities and community-created solutions toward a more just economy; defending national monuments in southern Utah and northern Arizona, supporting tribal communities in developing shared governance of the monuments with the federal government, and protecting native plant and animal species from harmful activities within monument boundaries; and restoring the world's largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest, improving the health of national forests in Arizona and Utah, and safeguarding communities and wildlife habitat from catastrophic wildfires.
