Adoption Rhode Island (ARI) provides pre and post adoption and permanency services to children, older youth, young adults and families; educates and advocates for a youth’s right to a safe environment; and works to increase public awareness of the unmet needs of children and families impacted by foster care and adoption. The organization’s Permanency Services Department helps locate and identify families for legal permanency through reunification, adoption, or guardianship for children, youth, teens, and young adults living in foster care. ARI’s Behavioral Health & Wellness Department provides trauma-informed counseling services, as well as consultation for youth, families and child welfare professionals who have been impacted by foster care and adoption. The Youth and Young Adult Services department aims to support older youth in building and re-establishing safe and meaningful connections, reaching educational goals and advancement, and improving readiness for a safe and healthy transition into adulthood. ARI’s advocacy efforts include collaborations with family court, legislators, and other child welfare professionals to ensure timeliness to permanency and improve outcomes for children and families impacted by adoption and foster care.
