Stated Purpose:
The mission of the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati is to resolve serious legal problems of low-income people, to promote economic and family stability, and to reduce poverty through effective legal assistance.
Year, State Incorporated:
1908, OH
For 117 years, the Legal Aid Society has made a difference in our community by providing free civil legal assistance to low-income families and adults to help them achieve economic security and family stability. In 2007, the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati established an affiliate, Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC to better serve the Southwest Ohio region. We now provide legal assistance in seven southwest Ohio counties: Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland, and Warren. We are the primary legal resource in Southwest Ohio serving those living in poverty. We help individuals with case-by-case problem resolution and work on larger systemic issues, often through forming partnership service and advocacy projects with other organizations. In 2024, Legal Aid received over 20,000 requests for assistance. Eligible clients are those who have incomes less than 200% of the federal poverty level, which currently is $64,300 for a family of four. 64% of our clients had annual incomes of less than $20,000 in 2024.
