Stated Purpose:
Whitington Homes and Services for Children and Families' mission is to develop independent life skills that lead to self-sufficient families.

Year, State Incorporated:
1974, IN

Whitington Homes and Services for Children and Families, Inc., operates programs designed to provide a positive and healthy environment for children, young men and women and, in select programs, the entire family. These programs are as follows: Adoption Home Studies: The home study process will document that the home is suitable for an adoptive placement. Services to adoption families are affordable, educational, and inspiring. Services display respect for socio-cultural values, lifestyle, choices, personal goals and complex family interactions. Services are arranged at the convenience of the family and to meet t6he specific needs of the family. Visitation Facilitation: This is provided to parents, children, siblings and/or others who have been separated due to abuse and neglect or involvement with juvenile probation. Whitington provides a positive atmosphere where parents and children may interact in a safe, structured environment. This visitation allows the child and opportunity to reconnect and reestablish the relation in a safe structured environment. During visit times, the parents are able to learn and practice new concepts of parenting. Home-based Family Centered Casework: Strength based service that identifies areas of need and focuses on short and long term goals to reduce safety risks for children. They also help facilitate reunification of children back home. Services occur within 48 hours of referral and include a 24/7 crisis intake and intervention. Home-Based Family Centered Therapy: Provides a combination of the following services to families and individuals: Conflict management, communication skills, REBT therapy, behavior modification, grief work, and relapse prevention. Therapy is given in the natural home environment of families who need assistance recovering from physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect. Services are provided by a qualified master level therapist and include 24/7 crisis intake, intervention, and consultation. Foster Home Studies/Updates/Re-licensing Studies: Whitington provides Home Studies for families who want to become foster parent(s) and for current foster homes who need an update or re-licensing. A home study is an information gathering and evaluation of the family and home environment that records a recommendation as to the ability of the prospective parent to meet the needs of the child(ren). Homemaker/Parent Aid: Provides assistance for parents who are unable to fulfill parenting and/or homemaking functions. Staff will assist the family through teaching demonstrating, monitoring, and role modeling new skills for coping with many areas. This enables the family to build self sufficiency. Services are available 24/7.
