Since 2005, Wesley House has challenged barriers often experienced by those seeking to improve their prospects through higher education. From the beginning, the focus has been on addressing the basic needs of housing and food security among low-income post-secondary students.
Wesley House services are available to all low-income students in San Diego County. In 2005, Wesley House served 24-32 individuals annually. The organization now serves over 2,200 people each year. Services have include wraparound case management, a full-service food pantry, CalFresh application assistance, housing navigation, rental assistance, and life skills training. Wesley House programming is developed with feedback and input from the communities served and the experts who support them.
The Wesley House approach to student success through proven holistic interventions has a history of 95% retention of students continuing their education year-to-year through to completion.
