Stated Purpose:
"To promote the health and
well-being of the world's torture survivors."
Year, State Incorporated:
2003, UT
Also Known As:
Utah Health and Human Rights Project
The goal of its program is to help torture survivors and
their families heal from the consequences of torture by improving their
physical, social, and emotional health through integrated and holistic direct
services and advocacy.
Adjusting to life in a new country is already overwhelming,
and when paired with torture and trauma, it can become unmanageable. Through its services, it mitigates the day-to-day difficulties of navigating a new life
in the U.S., while simultaneously addressing clients' torture related symptoms.
The ultimate goal of this approach is to guide clients toward living healthy,
self-sufficient, and fulfilling lives.
With 17 years of success as Utah's only direct service
provider exclusively focused on serving torture survivors, its unique approach
to healing has effectively helped torture survivors and their families recover
from their losses and become whole once again.
