Our Place's mission is to provide education, prevention, and treatment services for people, families, and communities affected by or at risk from alcohol, tobacco, or other substance abuse.

Our Place has served southern Indiana since 1981. It serves individuals, organizations, and communities from the region, including Floyd, Clark, Harrison, Scott, and Washington counties, through various mission driven programs each year. The Early Intervention Program is for youth, adults, and families who are experiencing problems with substance abuse. The Journey Outpatient Program offers evidence-based treatment to both adolescents, adults, and their family members. Harrison County Outreach provides outpatient substance abuse treatment and counseling groups to justice-involved adult clients – and now school and community-based prevention programming, as well. Afterschool ROCKS in Floyd County is an afterschool prevention program targeting 4th grade students to help them build social emotional learning skills to reduce substance abuse and help improve academic success. Footprints for Life is a school-based prevention program targeting 2nd grade students with social skills to help reduce substance abuse in schools. LifeSkills is a school-based prevention program targeting 4th, 7th, 8th, and 10th grade students in Floyd and Harrison Counties, teaching personal self-management and general social skills, which help reduce high risk behaviors like substance abuse. Parents Who Host Lose the Most is a program that works to educate parents and other adults about the dangers and liability of providing alcohol to minors. Be The Majority is a program that teaches youth that most people their age make healthy, positive choices. Our Place also provides physician and patient education for safe prescribing practices, including drug drop off sites. The Floyd County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation program provides policy advocacy and cessation referrals. Employee Assistance Services provides supervisor and employee training on drug-free workplace policies and drug screening. Our Place also provides community education and advocacy regarding policies and practices that can support prevention or that can contribute to substance misuse. Lastly, Our Place staff can provide tailored training presentations upon request.
