NYDIS is a faith-based federation of service providers and charitable organizations who work in partnership to provide disaster readiness, response, and recovery services in New York City. The mission of New York Disaster Interfaith Services is to inspire, connect and provide resources for New York City faith communities serving in disaster situations to create an urban environment of social justice for all. To this end, NYDIS convenes its member organizations to coordinate recovery efforts and to network with local, state, and national agencies involved in disaster management to facilitate the delivery of services and information to religious communities, disaster-impacted communities, and under-served survivors.
Year, State Incorporated:
2003, NY
NYDIS serves its member organizations and communities as they collaborate to communicate the significance of faith-based roles in disaster response, and disseminate information, tools and resources to members, the disaster response community, and the public. They connect diaster-impacted individuals and communities to vital resources and services provided by faith-based providers, local houses of worship, religious leaders, and the Unmet Needs Roundtable.
