The ITRC Is a non-profit organization established to empower and guide consumers, victims, business and government to minimize risk and mitigate the impact of identity compromise and crime.

The ITRC provides free help to anyone with U.S.-based identity credentials who would like information about how to prevent becoming a victim of an identity crime, who wants information on how to protect their personal information, and/or who would like assistance with recovering from identity misuse. The ITRC’s Victim Advisors walk all victims through the steps they need to take to address their concerns, will send a customized recovery and protection plan, and are happy to serve as a resource for as long as they are needed.
The ITRC is also a voice for victims and maintains the largest U.S. aggregate of data breach information, provides public research on victim impact, advises legislation, speaks to the media on public issues, works with businesses to develop educational materials, provides webinars & presentations for organizations, etc.
