Hope Alive, Inc. meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
“bringing
hope and encouragement with Christ-like love to emotionally hurting people.”
Year, State Incorporated:
1980, IN
The Residential Program is one-of-a-kind in Fort Wayne—focusing on serving homeless women in our community with mental health needs. Residents (up to 17 at one time) practice living independently in an apartment setting within a supportive network of services on our campus. The campus includes three homes, which include five modern but simple apartments offering each woman her own bedroom. Kitchen/living facilities are shared with up to three other women. All residents receive weekly counseling and case management as well as two support groups a week which teach mental wellbeing and life skills. All these services are aimed at helping residents address underlying mental health struggles, while also developing positive coping skills, independent living skills, as well as an increased sense of hope and self-worth. Rent starts at $300 per month. The Community Counseling Program makes low-cost mental health counseling services available to the underserved in the Allen County community. Licensed counselors and counseling interns provide mental health counseling to men, women, children, couples, and families for various mental health needs including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, relationship difficulties and more. We ask our community clients to pay $25 per session; but, if that is not affordable, we negotiate an affordable fee. No one is turned away for inability to pay. Hope Alive also provides master’s level internships for counselors-in-training seeking clinical experience for degrees in counseling or a related field in order to invest long-term in the community and reduce the mental health care shortage through training next-generation professionals. In 2024, more than 250 people were served through all programs, with 33 women served in the Residential Program. 1720 hours of affordable counseling were provided.
