Stated Purpose:

MISSION STATEMENT:

Home for Families empowers families and youth in a housing crisis by resolving immediate needs, providing access to resources, and promoting long-term stability through safe housing, financial independence, and equitable education.

Year, State Incorporated:
1986, OH

Also Known As:
HFF Homeless Families Foundation

PROGRAMS & SERVICES:

Home for Families provides direct and supportive services to 1,200 families and youth each year across its suite of housing, financial, and educational programs. HFF’s programming aims to resolve housing crises, avert the lasting trauma of homelessness, and provide each family and youth with the stable foundation they need to thrive.

HOUSING – Home for Families helps housing insecure families and youth stay in their homes, or find and secure affordable and stable housing when necessary, through direct housing assistance and housing navigation services. HFF’s team of specialized Case Managers provide individualized and targeted supportive services, working with families and youth to help them develop their own goals for success and providing the wraparound services needed to help them overcome barriers to lasting stability.

FINANCIAL – Home for Families provides targeted financial and material assistance to eliminate barriers that may extend beyond housing but directly impact a family’s or youth’s ability to stay stably housed. When determined necessary to ensure a family or youth’s stability, HFF can provide financial support with utilities, eviction debt, childcare, and transportation; access to healthy food through the HFF Emergency Pantry; and referrals and linkages with essential community resources, including mental healthcare providers and assistance with preparing resumes and job searches.

EDUCATION – Home for Families helps ensure the educational stability of its families by providing in-home, kindergarten readiness programming for children ages 3-5 and year-round, Out-of-School Time (OST) programming for K–8th grade students after school and during summer months. HFF’s educational programming centers on a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum with a special emphasis on teaching Social-Emotional Learning skills and positive peer relationships. HFF also supports continuing education for adults through programming that provides housing assistance and supportive services to unstably housed clients who are enrolled in vocational training provided by Franklin County or in full-time classes at Columbus State Community College.
