BBB has determined that Healing TREE's program expenses are reasonable even though its program service expense ratio is under the 65% requirement in Standard 8.

Stated Purpose:
Healing TREE (Trauma Resources, Education & Entertainment) advocates healing from abuse and trauma rather than coping with the symptoms, in order to transform lives and, ultimately, society. It achieves this by providing trauma-focused resources and education and by producing and partnering with relevant film, television, and theatre, empowering the social change necessary to create a healing movement.

Year, State Incorporated:
2014, KY

Healing TREE provides a variety of programs and services. It facilitates and sponsors 52-hour EMDR Therapy Trainings done by an internationally recognized, one-of-a-kind training team. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is highly effective in treating the widespread conditions related to trauma but often cost-prohibitive for professionals, especially those in under-resourced communities, to get trained in. Next, Healing TREE provides a free, nationwide directory of trauma-focused mental health providers. This program works to connect individuals with providers who are not only brain-body based trauma experts but who also fit their unique needs, like being a therapist of color, a queer therapist or faith based, who take their insurance or offer sliding scale. Next up, Healing TREE’s short film Silk, and accompanying workshop with guided discussion, illustrate, educate on and explore the most insidious forms of abuse and trauma. The film engages high schoolers, college students, and community members to have an open conversation about these important but often undiscussed topics.  As part of its mission, Healing TREE produces theatre, film and television projects designed to educate on trauma and empower healing through entertainment. Healing TREE frequently collaborates with aligned companies and organizations to achieve a shared vision. These partnerships include shop partners who donate a percentage of their sales to support Healing TREE’s mission as well as related organizations that collaborate on programming. The nonprofit offers fiscal sponsorships for relevant projects (specializing in film and theatre productions). Healing TREE also provides Trauma Consulting for relevant film, theatre, and television projects/scripts in development as well as organizations.
