Hand in Hand’s vision is to seek to build community, one person at a time and one community at a time. Ongoing programs provide access to quality education, safe housing, and healthcare. The nonprofit’s immersion trips encourage individuals to deepen their perspective and realize their potential impact locally, regionally, and globally. The Appalachia program based in Auxier, Ky., focuses on providing home repairs and food support. Its work in Belize began in 2002, and provides housing and healthcare support. The Louisville urban immersion experience works with community stakeholders to serve Louisville residents. Through the Pathway to Change program in Nicaragua, about 90 children, ages 6 to 16 are provided with a quality education in a private school setting.
