Stated Purpose:
Deborahs Place opens doors of opportunity for women who are homeless in Chicago. Supportive housing and services offer women their key to healing, achieving their goals, and moving on from the experience of homelessness.
Year, State Incorporated:
1985, IL
Deborahs Place meets each woman where she is. We listen to her story, assess her strengths, and work to understand her goals. Our job is to transition women from the chaos of homelessness to stable housing, sustainable income, and better quality of life. We believe that the transition begins with a safe place to stay and services catered to each individuals needs.
Deborahs Place provides:
• 129 units of permanent supportive housing across two project sites
• A 10-bed interim housing program focused on rapid re-housing
• A 15-bed Safe Haven program for women who have experienced chronic homelessness and have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness
• 193 units of community-based housing, through partnerships with private landlords
• Intensive rapid rehousing services to 60 - 80 women in scattered-site housing units with short-term (1-year) subsidies paid through the American Rescue Plan Act.
• Case management and therapeutic services for every participant
• 2 Learning Centers - community spaces that break the social isolation of homelessness and foster a sense of belonging
• Health Services - providing healthcare coordination and assistance with medical/dental expenses
