Creative Living, Inc. meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
MISSION:
Creative Living provides safe, affordable, wheelchair-accessible housing for adults with physical disabilities who desire to live independently, further their education, pursue careers and contribute to the community.
Year, State Incorporated:
1969, OH
Also Known As:
Creative Living Housing Corp.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES:
At the heart of the Creative Living mission is our unique Resident Assistance Program that delivers peace of mind and on-call, non-medical assistance 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year—things like removing a jacket, grabbing an item off of a shelf, transferring from wheelchair to bed or vice versa, carrying groceries, taking out the trash or assisting with a full-on emergency, among many other needs. This invaluable service bridges the gap between the time a personal care attendant might spend with residents and the remaining hours of the day and, for many, is the difference between living independently or living in an expensive, skilled nursing facility. As part of their lease agreement, residents are required to pay a monthly fee to help underwrite the cost of the Resident Assistance Program; however, it is funded primarily from direct donations and the proceeds of annual fundraising events.
Many of the staff resident assistants are students pursuing health-related careers at local, post-secondary institutions and view their work at Creative Living as an invaluable opportunity to gain relevant, hands-on experience in the healthcare field.
