Clatsop Community Action meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Mobilizing resources to end poverty, the mission of Clatsop Community Action is to help people meet housing, food, and other basic living needs.
Year, State Incorporated:
1989, OR
Clatsop Community Action (CCA )is the principle anti-poverty agency in Clatsop County. Its programs serve the homeless, near-homeless, and low-income populations throughout the entire county. To complete its mission, CCA manages numerous housing, food and basic living needs assistance programs. CCA obtains, warehouses, and distributes food for its Partner Agencies to provide emergency food boxes, weekend food backpacks for kids, and food for hot meal sites.
CCA helps prevent people from becoming homeless and helps assist those already homeless to get re-housed and stabilized. This is done through intensive case management and direct client financial assistance such as rent, temporary lodging, transportation to a community where a homeless shelter exists, rental deposits, birth certificate and identification card acquisitions, and utility bill assistance. CCA helps those clients lacking basic living skills to develop the skills needed for sustainability, so they will not continue to use social services. They help ensure families experiencing unfortunate economic hardships will not go without the basic necessities to live. CCA also helps build stronger communities by helping to stabilize and move people onward towards self-sufficiency.
