Stated Purpose:
Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada provides support to those in need in the Reno/Sparks community as well as across rural Nevada. Services provided include food resources, case management, and residential programs. Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada has been serving individuals and families for over 80 years. While we are affiliated with the Diocese of Reno, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is a separately-incorporated 501(c)3 nonprofit agency.

Year, State Incorporated:
1995, NV

Whom We Serve: Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to supporting those in need throughout Nevada. We help people of all cultures and beliefs rise up out of poverty and overcome barriers to self-sufficiency. We do this through a broad range of services, including food resources, case management, and residential programs. On average, over 25,000 individuals receive support from us on a monthly basis. All are welcome!

What Sets Us Apart: We are addressing the root causes of poverty by encountering and accompanying low-income households on a journey to economic equality and the realization of a meaningful and purposeful life. Every client that comes through our doors is assigned a case manager. With the case manager’s guidance, clients can receive support to help them on their self-driven path to sustainability.

Offering a Hand Up

Dining Room: Serves over 1,200 hot meals daily, 7 days a week at our main campus in downtown Reno and the Nevada Cares Campus Homeless Shelter. We are the oldest, continually running ‘soup kitchen’ in Reno.

Food Pantry: Distributes 45 – 65 pounds of fresh and shelf-stable food to over 12,000 monthly through our main campus and over 40 outreach pantries in micro-urban, rural, frontier, and tribal communities throughout Nevada. It is the largest food pantry of its kind in Nevada.

Resource Hub: Serves those who wonder how they will be able to meet their most basic needs through rental and utility assistance, crisis mitigation, homelessness prevention, workforce development, and other emergency assistance.

Thriving Families Support Center: Provides a bridge out of poverty through mobility mentoring, including economic mobility, financial literacy, education support, parenting and relationship classes, and peer-led support groups.

Immigration Legal Services: Provides low-cost (or pro bono) legal immigration services to foreign-born individuals and their families who seek to obtain or extend lawful immigration status or U.S. citizenship.

Immunization Clinic: Provides vaccines, basic wellness checks, and health education throughout Nevada with a focus on seniors, persons with disabilities, children, and their caregivers.

Battle Born Housing Plus: Provides a supportive sober living environment, including wraparound services, for men battling addiction, recently released from jail, and/or transitioning out of homelessness.

Golden Connections: Personalized home deliveries, independent living, prescription pantry, roommate matchmaking, and programming that reduces isolation while encouraging wellness and activities in the golden years.
