The Eye Bank of Kentucky meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
To restore sight through corneal transplant, ocular research, and medical education. We will promote eye, organ, and tissue donation while respecting and honoring the donors and their families who so selflessly give.
Year, State Incorporated:
2016, KY
The Eye Bank of Kentucky provides donated ocular tissue for transplantation to surgeons. They recover, evaluate, and surgically prepare donated eyes and corneas for transplant from deceased donors who selflessly give the gift of sight. The nonprofit also prepares autologous serum eye drops, called SeraTears™, for patients suffering from dry eye disease and other cornea surface disorders. This special preparation from the patient’s own blood helps to rebuild and repair the surface of the eye. The Eye Bank of Kentucky believes the ability to pay should never be a barrier to a person’s ability to receive a cornea transplant or ocular surface therapy. The Judy Tincher Charitable Tissue Fund was established for the purpose of providing charitable ocular tissue services to the medically under-insured or non-insured, throughout the nonprofit’s service area.
