National Kidney Foundation of Indiana (NKFI) offers a variety of health screenings and educational programs across the state. The most extensive program is the Indiana Kidney Check. This screening provides comprehensive results including estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate, Glucose test, Albumin-Creatine Ratio urine test, Body Mass Index calculation, Blood Pressure check and consult with an on-site medical professional completely free to participants. NKFI also hosts mini a screening program called the Kidney Health Risk Assessment (KHRA). This screening is presented at some health fairs and at all Indiana Kidney Walks. The KHRA includes a health questionnaire, body mass index calculation, and blood pressure measurement.
NKFI provides Public Health Education and Professional Education. Public Health Education consists of workshops, health fairs, brochures, video production, or any other educational projects or programs to educate the public on kidney diseases, urological diseases, diabetes, hypertension, organ, tissue donation, and transplantation. Professional Education are activities of the Medical Advisory Board including the Stuart A. Kleit Symposium, Stuart A. Kleit Symposium Scholarships, the Indiana Council of Nephrology Social Workers, the Indiana Council of Renal Nutritionists, the Physician Education Programs, workshops or programs developed for the continuing education of medical professionals, and funding for nephrology fellows. NKFI also provides Community Services as a collaborative effort with other community service organizations to improve programs and services to counties outside of Central Indiana.
