Diabetes Research Connection (DRC) identifies, reviews, and allocates seed-funding to advance the most promising type 1 diabetes (T1D) research led by early-career scientists nationwide. The organization focuses on four areas of research including: developing therapies to halt the autoimmune attach and restore beta cell function - providing a biological cure for T1D; slowing or halting T1D progression and ultimately eliminating the development of T1D; improving and automating glucose monitoring and control to ease the burden of T1D; and developing therapies to prevent, treat, and reverse the complications of T1D that can lead to heart and kidney disease, stroke, amputations, neuropathy, and blindness.
