Miss Virginia's Food Pantry meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Miss Virginias Food Pantry provides
nutritious food to combat food insecurity in Fort Wayne, including in food
deserts, prioritizing low and moderate income residents.
Year, State Incorporated:
1995, IN
Our primary service is the Balanced
Nutritional Food Program (BNFP), which distributes food to the community on a
weekly basis. The purpose of BNFP is to address food insecurity in Fort Wayne,
including in the citys food deserts, by distributing nutritious food packages
(meat, eggs, milk, produce, bread, canned goods) to community members in need.
We also operate a community garden with
24 container beds growing guest-preferred vegetables to supplement the BNFP and
foster community engagement in Fort Waynes food deserts. The garden supports
sustainable food production, educational outreach, and partnerships with
organizations like the East Central Neighborhood Association.
During the winter we
also host a Winter Coat Closet” program that provides winter coats to guests
in need.
