Stated Purpose:
Tree San Diego is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the quality, density, and sustainability of the region’s urban forests for the benefit of all communities and the environment.

Year, State Incorporated:
2014, CA

Tree San Diego (TSD) is a nonprofit organization committed to improving environmental and community well-being across San Diego County through urban forestry. The organization leads strategic, science-based tree planting efforts that prioritize increasing canopy cover in under-resourced neighborhoods, with the goals of improving air quality, reducing urban heat, and advancing environmental equity. TSD also delivers accessible environmental education programs designed to increase public understanding of the critical role trees play in ecosystem and public health. These programs engage youth, schools, residents, and local partners in community-based sustainability practices. Through its workforce development initiatives, we prepare individuals in underserved populations for employment in urban forestry and related green industries. Participants receive paid, hands-on experience alongside training in arboriculture, climate resilience, and green infrastructure, helping to build a skilled and diverse environmental workforce. In addition, TSD collaborates with local governments, schools, and organizations to support urban planning and long-term forest management.
