Year, State Incorporated:
1982, CO

Since 1982, RMFI has been a key player in the conservation and stewardship of Southern Colorado's public natural landscapes through the implementation of projects and programs that focus on community environmental stewardship, environmental education, and restoration research. Its restoration model centers on community involvement as a means of connecting people to the outdoors, promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing the next generation of environmental leaders, creating stronger and more resilient communities, and fostering an ethic of environmental responsibility and stewardship that can be passed down from generation to generation. Each year, it works with thousands of community volunteers and youth conservation crews to complete hands-on projects focused on trail construction and maintenance, habitat protection, restoration of alpine lands, creating sustainable climbing and recreation access, native vegetation enhancement, invasive species removal, erosion mitigation, and many others.
