Riverdale Senior Services (RSS), founded in 1974, is a 501 C 3 independent, nonprofit community-based organization serving the northwest Bronx. Funded in large part by the NYC Department for the Aging, and other city and state agencies, the organization relies upon support from foundations and its fundraising activities. Services include cultural, educational, wellness and recreational activities, as well as congregate meals, transportation, & intergenerational programs. Social services are provided by an LMSW, comprehensive health counseling and services are provided by an RN and Geriatric Mental Health services are provided by a LCSW. These no-cost, on-site and integrated physical/mental health services makes RSS unique in the community. RSS develops services based on the community needs. In the past decade RSS has established a Social Model Adult Day Program, health & mental health services, developed a women’s wellness project, and in 2017, launched The Healthy Communities Initiative enabling RSS to connect to our underserved communities through community engagement and coalition building. In 2018 the organization rebranded as RSS-The Center for Ageless Living to champion older adults and their families through our wellness approach. As The Center for Ageless Living we seek to re-define aging as a time of renewed purpose and social connection.
