Spalding University is a co-educational private non-profit institution located in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. With a special focus on health professions, Spalding offers over 40 graduate and undergraduate professional and liberal studies degree programs and has an enrollment of over 1,900 students. Since 1814 Spalding has been serving its students and the Louisville community in the tradition of its founders, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, with an active spirit of service and compassion. Spalding is recognized as the first "Compassionate University" by Compassion Action Network International and is designated by Carnegie Classifications as an “Opportunity Colleges and Universities” institution. Spalding’s outstanding faculty includes Kathleen Driskell, Kentucky’s 2025-2026 Poet Laureate.
