New Visions For Public Schools meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
New Visions builds systems to reduce educational inequity and expand opportunities for students in public schools across New York City and beyond. We work in partnership with educators, innovate where gaps exist, and sustain improvements in student outcomes through consistent routines and practices. With over 35 years of experience and impact, New Visions is nationally recognized as a leader in large scale educational improvement.

Year, State Incorporated:
1989, NY

Our major programs include:

The Portal by New Visions:

The Portal by New Visions is a student planning and school improvement tool that is designed to support individuals working across schools, districts, and other organizations serving students and their families. With features developed through deep partnerships with practitioners, the Portal is now available to all K-12 public schools in New York City, and in select districts outside NYC. New Visions is working with New York City to build shared infrastructure so that a diverse set of public and private organizations can collaborate effectively as they provide vital services to public school students and their families.

Affinity School Support Model:

Since 2006, New York City has driven innovation through a unique structure that leverages trusted non-profit organizations to serve as lead partners to networks of secondary schools within the traditional district. As an Affinity Organization, New Visions currently convenes and provides comprehensive support to 71 diverse public high schools across all five boroughs. This work has consistently generated student outcomes that outpace the rest of the city and impactful innovations that have scaled across the public school system. By building networks for educators to collaborate and learn together, creating resources that are responsive to school and student needs, and providing powerful, effective tools that enable educators to focus on serving their students, New Visions creates the conditions for educators and their students to thrive.

Curriculum & Instruction:

New Visions provides K-12 educators and leaders with effective high quality curricular materials, professional learning, and job-embedded coaching to ensure that all students experience strong and engaging instruction. Our free Science and Social Studies curricular materials are widely used across New York state and nationally.

Navigate by New Visions:

New Visions offers in-depth professional learning packages for individual schools and school districts. We understand that adopting new curricula can add complexity to any school’s priorities, so we customize professional learning services to cultivate coherence from the classroom to the district. New Visions is a certified provider in the Rivet Education Professional Learning Partner Guide and an affiliate of the Research Partnership for Professional Learning.

Community Engagement and Postsecondary Pathways:

New Visions works with schools to ensure that students receive high-quality support to pursue college and careers. We also design and implement scalable models of work-based learning so students can discover their interests and develop essential career skills through direct engagement with employers.
