Year, State Incorporated:
1988, IN
Also Known As:
I N H P
INHP was founded in 1988 as a public-private partnership by community leaders who recognized the need for an organization that could help individuals navigate the challenges associated with buying and owning a home. The organization envisioned would be driven not by profit, but instead by a mission to increase and sustain affordable housing, particularly among the underserved. For 35 years, INHP has been that organization, helping Indianapolis families open the door to affordable housing through financial and homeownership education, one-on-one advising, affordable home purchase and home repair mortgage products, post-purchase counseling and affordable housing development. Throughout these programs, INHP is responding to housing supply and demand in our city.
Since 1988, nearly 43,700 individuals have been impacted through one of INHP’s homebuyer preparation programs, and, in partnership, with the community, has financed over $700 million in mortgages for individuals and families with low and moderate incomes. In addition, INHP has impacted over 3,400 affordable housing units in Indianapolis through development, land banking, community lending, and intermediary grant making. INHP’s impact is reflected in our diverse client base and strong history of lending in underserved communities.
