Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Year, State Incorporated:
1986, OH
1. Affordable Homeownership Program
This program helps families with low to moderate incomes purchase affordable homes through a partnership model. Qualified applicants work alongside volunteers, complete “sweat equity” hours, attend homebuyer education classes, and then purchase their home with a zero-interest mortgage that includes taxes and insurance, keeping payments within ~30% of their income.
2. Critical Repair Program
Designed to help existing homeowners stay safe and in their homes, HFHGC offers Veteran Repair (for veterans or surviving spouses) and Aging in Place (for homeowners aged 60+). These initiatives provide no-upfront-cost repairs and accessibility modifications—like ramps, HVAC work, plumbing, roofing, showers—to address health, safety or code issues across Hamilton, Butler, Clermont & Warren counties in Ohio, plus neighboring counties in KY and IN.
3. Construction Training Program (CTP)
CTP is a workforce development partnership with CityLink that trains low-income adults in construction skills, provides OSHA-10 and NCCER Core certifications, hands-on experience on Habitat build sites, and support for job placements. This tuition-free, six-week course equips graduates for careers in construction—many of whom are hired soon after graduation.
4. Habitat ReStores
HFHGC operates six resale stores across Greater Cincinnati (Ohio and Northern Kentucky). These ReStores sell donated home goods, appliances, furniture, and building materials at affordable prices. Revenue from sales supports building more homes and prevents reusable materials from ending up in landfills.
