Year, State Incorporated:
1964, CA

Since 1964, Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) has been dedicated to advancing nonprofits and volunteerism by strengthening leadership, fostering innovation, and empowering individuals within their communities. Recognizing that passion alone is not enough to build strong nonprofits, CVNL works with both aspiring and established leaders to help them develop the skills and connections needed to elevate their impact. CVNL offers comprehensive programs and services to support nonprofits and volunteers, including Learning & Leadership programs, professional trainings, executive search, customized consulting solutions, volunteer services, and corporate engagement initiatives. Signature events such as Heart of Marin™, Heart of Napa™, and Heart of Sonoma County honor nonprofits of all sizes and missions with recognition and cash awards. Additional programs include the Sonoma County Human Race, Secret Santa, Court Referral Program, and Paratransit services. CVNL also provides disaster preparedness training and operates as an Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC), managing spontaneous volunteers and donations in Napa, Marin, Sonoma, and Solano Counties during disaster response efforts. By equipping leaders with confidence and preparation, CVNL ensures that nonprofits are better positioned to build healthy, happy, and more equitable communities.
