ProKids meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
ProKids mobilizes the community to break the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect by recruiting, training, and supporting community members to become Court Appointed Special Advocates, known as
CASA Volunteers. CASAs speak up for children in all areas of their lives and ultimately guide them into environments where they can thrive. At ProKids, we believe every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and permanent home.
Year, State Incorporated:
1981, OH
ProKids exists because of the nearly 3,500 children in Hamilton County who have suffered such severe abuse and neglect that they have been placed into the child protection system, most into foster care. Programming includes:
• CASA University – ProKids CASA Volunteer recruitment and training program. 30-hours of preservice training, 12- hours of specialized training, and 12-hours of continuing education annually.
• Building Blocks- serves children birth - 5 with an emphasis on pediatric medical care, early childhood development, and kindergarten readiness.
• Framing Futures- serves children 6-13 with an emphasis on education and socio-emotional development.
• Launch- serves youth 14+ who are at-risk of aging out of foster care without a permanent home with an emphasis on high school graduation, stable housing, and self-sufficiency.
• Steps to Peace- serves children who have experienced severe trauma and/or are survivors/witnesses of domestic violence. Due to Covid-19, children have endured longer, and more severe periods of abuse – resulting in increased trauma.
