Kids to Love Foundation meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Stated Purpose:
Kids to Love Foundation offers services for children living in foster care.
Year, State Incorporated:
2004, AL
For 20 years, the overarching mission of Kids to Love has been to meet the immediate needs of children living in foster care with the following programs:
Davidson Farms - A home for girls ages 10-19. We employ house parents who live at the home full-time providing guidance and care for these young ladies. We also have a team of therapists to provide mental health support as well as teachers and mentors who give additional educational and emotional guidance.
Whitaker Cottage Community - A community of 5 tiny homes that give young women a place to live while they work on their education and/or career. What started as primarily an option for young women who have aged out of foster care has since grown to also serve women and their children who otherwise faced homelessness and separation. These homes are on the Davidson Farms property, so these young ladies still receive all the support and guidance of the Kids to Love team.
Child Placing Agency - We recruit, train, and license foster families that will provide safe and loving homes to foster children across Alabama.
Private Adoption - We are a licensed Adoption Agency in Alabama and Tennessee, supporting birth parents and adoptive parents every step of the way during the adoption process.
Emergency Assistance & Food Boxes - The Kids to Love Center is home to a warehouse where we store supplies for our More Than a Backpack and Christmas for the Kids programs. The Curtis Cares Center also remains fully stocked year-round to support foster children with new items like clothing, toys, toiletries, and other necessities. Each week we also provide food boxes for foster families providing pantry staples and fresh produce from our Community Garden at Davidson Farms when available.
Mental Wellness - The Smith Family Mental Wellness Center, Home of the Grant Hill Trauma Team offers therapy services, specifically suited for foster children and foster families. We also offer Equine Therapy at the Damson Family Barn on our Davidson Farms property.
More than a Backpack Campaign - Each summer, we equip 6,000 foster children in Alabama and Tennessee for their new school year with backpacks and school supplies.
Christmas for the Kids - Each year we fill complete wish lists valued at around $420 each for approximately 2,000 children living in foster care.
KTECH - We operate a licensed private school offering certifications in Mechatronics, Robotics, Soldering, Virtual Reality, and Snap On. The KTECH mission is to train, prepare, and connect tomorrow’s workforce today. KTECH accepts students of all ages and backgrounds with a special emphasis on helping underserved populations find a pathway to success. The KTECH difference can be found in our hands-on and interactive curriculum, as well as our Life Lab Academy that offers soft skills training in financial literacy, nutrition, resume building, and interview best practices. We also offer our students access to weekly mental health and wellness services. In just 16 weeks, our graduates are ready to enter the workforce. We also offer Virtual Reality classes for college credit, as well as Summer Camps for high school students.
Scholarships - Every spring, we offer scholarships for certification training, trade schools, and 2 and 4-year college tuition to help the career dreams of foster children become reality. Since 2005, the Kids to Love Foundation has awarded 1000 scholarships reaching the $1 million dollar mark.
Camp Hope - An opportunity for foster children and foster families from across Alabama to get away for a day of fun. We offer training sessions and an opportunity for our foster parents to relax while the children participate in activities like zip lining, paddle boating, and other outdoor fun!
See Meth, Stop Meth - This Kids to Love initiative is a tip line that allows the public to anonymously report people who may be making, dealing, or using meth. The Kids to Love Foundation then turns those tips over to district attorneys and/or law enforcement.
