Also Known As:
Child Abuse Council
EveryChild reports that it leads community efforts to eliminate child abuse and neglect through early intervention dedicated to child abuse prevention. The organization serves the Quad-Cities region of Iowa and Illinois. EveryChild works with children, families, and area professionals to treat trauma that has already occurred and prevent abuse and neglect before it happens. EveryChild's approach uses a public health model of Universal, Secondary, and Tertiary prevention strategies. Universal prevention educates and supports the community at large. Secondary prevention engages families with targeted support. Tertiary prevention aids children and families to address trauma and partners with healthcare professionals to prevent recurrent abuse and neglect. The organization operates a child protection center in Muscatine, Illinois, which partners with law enforcement and healthcare professionals to perform forensic interviews and medical exams. EveryChild also offers basic training courses for new fathers, doula services, Families First weekly playgroups and parenting classes, and has trained volunteers that serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in juvenile court.
