Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (CIS Charlotte) reports it uses a comprehensive service delivery model to support students from pre-k to 12th grade with intensive student supports (ISS) programming and specialized interventions. The organization’s specialized interventions target specific issues, including college access and career readiness for low-income, first-generation students; support for teen parents balancing the challenges of childcare and high school graduation. CIS Charlotte also reports it provides assistance for youth who have been involved with the criminal justice system with their efforts to continue their education; serves immigrant, refugee, English Language Learner (ELL) students; and reengages students who disconnected from school during the pandemic and remote learning. In 2022, CIS Charlotte reports it provided 32,000 students with school-wide services, 5,360 students participated in targeted case-management services across 55 Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, and 383 CIS Charlotte senior students graduated.
