The mission of BGCWCL is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We do this by offering programs that focus on three areas of outcome: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship. Included in these programs are Power Hour, which is where members can spend as much time as necessary working on homework with the assistance of our dedicated staff and volunteers; Healthy Habits, which is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program; and Maker Space, which is a program giving youth a voice through self-expression.
We also partner with the Senior Coalition of West Chester, which is an organization of retired adults from the West Chester and Liberty Township areas. These active, older adults use our facility to keep their minds and bodies active by participating in a variety of options ranging from bingo to pickleball. These energetic and always entertaining older “kids” are asked to pay just $50 per school year to participate in these programs 4 days per week. They are happy to pay and also leap at the opportunity to volunteer to work with our kids as much as they can.
